533 3rd Avenue, between High Street and Gatacre Street, was built in 1948 for Frank Jameson as a family residence. Frank Jameson served as Mayor of Ladysmith, as did his father Ernest Jameson.

Local resident Paddy Jameson Guerard has told us that her father, Frank Jameson, had this house built as a residence for the family. She says her father helped build this house.
Frank Jameson and his father, Ernest Jameson, operated Jameson Flour & Feeds, a feed store originally located at the corner of High Street and 1st Avenue and later located on Esplanade Avenue across from the Lung Fung Restaurant , 322 Esplanade Avenue. The Jameson business premises on Esplanade Avenue is no longer standing.
Both Frank Jameson and his father, Ernest Jameson, served as Mayor of Ladysmith.
